Workout Like You Mean It

Yesterday I was bad. I went to go do my workout but I had a lot on my mind and I kept stopping to respond to emails and I was distracted the whole time.

Does that ever happen to you? You work out, but you don’t really work out? You know what I’m talking about. You get to the gym and you walk around a bunch and you drink a lot of water and you do a few moves but you don’t really do much. You do the same thing you always do and you leave barely sweaty the next day you’re not even sore.

What is the point of this? Nothing. It’s a waste of time that will only make you more disappointed when you don’t get the results you want. So how do you change this cycle? I've found two things that help me.

Number One: motivation. It’s different for every person, but for me, it’s also different for every day. The problem with motivation is that it changes. Whatever motivated me to start working out one day will probably not motivate me later on when I'm sore, tired, busy, hungry, lazy, etc.

Instead, I have to constantly pick something new to motivate you. I have to find what works for me, but I have to find what works for me on different days. And when nothing else works, I have to do it anyway. Sometimes my motivation can just be keeping my streak going or not being disappointed in myself later.

Whatever works today, use that today. Whatever works tomorrow, use that tomorrow.
Just stay motivated.

Number Two: The Surge Plan 7 Minute Surge Workout videos have seriously saved my life. I have the hardest time motivating myself to work out for a full hour every day. I don't have that kind of time!

The awesome thing about the Surge Plan videos is that they teach you how to exercise smarter, not longer, using High Intensity Interval Training. HIIT is scientifically proven to help you keep burning calories for hours even after you've finished working out! Work out for seven minutes twice a day, burn calories for hours? I'm all for that!

And since the Surge Plan provides easy-to-follow videos, I don't even have to think about what to do next. I don't get a chance to stop and get distracted because the pace is constantly upbeat and moving. I just follow along and get the workout of my life for seven minutes and then I still have time in the day to get everything done.

So those are my two tricks... finding new motivation and using the Surge Plan 7-Minute Surge Videos to keep my workouts short but efficient.
